Property Update – October 2014

Welcome to Gabelle’s inaugural monthly property update written specifically for those involved in the real estate industry, whether as a residential landlord, investor, developer or agent. This update will feature the current key areas of change within tax that are impacting the property market that you or your clients should be aware of.

Gabelle’s property tax specialism is headed up by Caroline Fleet, who provides access to strong tax expertise and industry specific experience. As well as this update, Gabelle host property specific seminars during the year – so watch this space for details of our next seminar in early 2015.

This summer has seen a number of key consultations issued by HMRC, which will impact on property transactions going forward, including the introduction of capital gains for non-residents, the administration of the Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings (ATED) and the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), as well as Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) potential seeding reliefs for PAIFs and CoACs.

We will continue to monitor developments in these areas and keep you informed of the key changes.
