Property Update – July 2015

This month has seen the Summer Budget with property continuing to be a hot topic with the Chancellor. This time, it was clearly the Buy-To-Let Landlords and Non-Doms owning their UK residential properties through overseas companies that were under his gaze. We consider the main changes affecting property in further detail within the newsletter.

There were also a couple of interesting tax cases this month affecting the tax treatment of properties, in particular the VAT tribunal ruling on York Properties and the First- tier Tribunal decision in Hardy relating to the capital gains treatment for forfeited deposits.
