Martin is both a member of the Association of Tax Technicians and the Chartered Institute of Taxation. He has made a career of advising clients on their tax affairs spanning twenty five years. His past roles have seen him advise on both business/corporate as well as personal tax issues and as a consequence Martin has developed a wide and varied tax knowledge. Martin’s ability to advise on a broad range of direct tax issues is regularly called upon when fulfilling his current role of advising fellow professionals which he began as a member of Chiltern’s tax support for professionals team back in 2005.
Martin relishes the opportunity to advise on tax issues affecting owner managed businesses and has helped a number of accountants to develop solutions to client tax issues for example, tax efficient extraction of profits and business reconstructions. He is happy to share his knowledge and expertise and is a regular speaker at accountant’s events in which topics such as entrepreneurs’ relief and the use of share schemes have been presented.
In addition to his varied tax knowledge Martin has developed a niche expertise in employment tax and share reward issues as well as CGT issues notably PPR.
Outside work Martin loves to spend time with his family at his home in Essex although with two teenage children time is spent mostly as a taxi driver. Other interests are sport (mostly watching these days), keeping fit in the garden and riding roller coasters.
